Growth hormone secretagogues (GHS) are a class of peptides that stimulate the pituitary gland to produce and release growth hormone. Among the most widely researched are CJC-1295 and Sermorelin — two compounds that share a similar mechanism of action but differ in their pharmacokinetic profiles and research applications.
What Is CJC-1295?
CJC-1295 is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) consisting of 30 amino acids. It was developed to provide a longer-acting alternative to native GHRH, which has a plasma half-life of only a few minutes.
CJC-1295 is available in two forms: without DAC (Drug Affinity Complex) and with DAC. The DAC modification allows the peptide to bind to serum albumin, significantly extending its half-life from approximately 30 minutes to several days.
What Is Sermorelin?
Sermorelin is a truncated analogue of GHRH, containing the first 29 amino acids of the 44-amino-acid native hormone. It was one of the first GHS peptides to be extensively studied and represents the minimum active fragment of GHRH required to stimulate growth hormone release.
Key Differences in Research
| Property | CJC-1295 (no DAC) | Sermorelin |
|---|---|---|
| Amino acids | 30 | 29 |
| Half-life | ~30 minutes | ~10-20 minutes |
| GH release pattern | Sustained pulse | Short, natural pulse |
| Research focus | Extended GH elevation studies | Physiological GH pulsatility |
Combination Research
Both peptides are frequently studied in combination with growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs) such as Ipamorelin or GHRP-6. The rationale is that GHRH analogues and GHRPs work through complementary pathways — GHRH analogues stimulate GH synthesis while GHRPs trigger GH release, potentially producing a synergistic effect.
The CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin combination and Tesamorelin / Ipamorelin combination are among the most popular research configurations in this category.
Reconstitution
Both CJC-1295 and Sermorelin should be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water and stored at 2-8°C. Use our dosage calculator to determine the correct volumes for your research protocol.
